Intro
The Inca civilization was advanced in technology and government. The Incas built many impressive buildings, roads, and had sewer systems. They used economic strategies to keep their quickly expanding empire under control. They also improved the crop storage system.
The first Inca tribe settled near modern day Cuzco in around 1000 AD. They spoke Quencha or "the language of the free men." The word “inca” in Quencha means “lord” and Sapa Inca or “only lord” was their term for their leader. In 1300 AD, they soon started taking over surrounding tribes by intermarriage, conquering, and forming peaceful alliances with them.
